Sewing Machine Operator / Seamstress - Direct Hire
* Location: Los Angeles, CA 90038 (on-site)
* Schedule: Monday-Friday 7AM- 3PM 40 hours
* Employment Type: Direct Hire + Benefits
* Pay/Compensation: $20.50-$26 DOE (most hires $23-$26)
Company Overview
A well-established Los Angeles-based manufacturer in the apparel/accessories space is seeking experienced Specialty Sewing Machine Operators to support production of high-quality leather and textile goods. This is an on-site, direct-hire opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, organize, and sort materials prior to sewing/assembly
* Set up sewing machines (change needles, install attachments, thread machines, adjust settings)
* Operate a variety of sewing machines to stitch/join materials accurately and efficiently
* Inspect materials and finished products for defects; maintain high quality standards
* Perform basic machine troubleshooting and routine preventive maintenance
* Use hand-sewing/finishing and ironing techniques when needed
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
* Support the team with related production tasks as needed; cross-train on other equipment as assigned
Qualifications
* 1+ year of experience operating single-needle sewing machines in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
* Experience sewing leather and/or luxury or high-end garments/products strongly preferred
* Single needle, double needle, overlock/serger, coverstitch, walking foot, leather sewing, industrial sewing
* Comfortable setting up and operating industrial sewing machines and working with various fabrics/materials
* Ability to follow spec sheets/design instructions and measure accurately
* Strong attention to detail and quality
* Reliable, accountable, and able to work well in a team environment
* Able to work in a fast-paced production setting
Physical Requirements
* Ability to sit/stand for extended periods with some walking
* Frequent repetitive motions using hands/arms/wrists/fingers ; strong manual dexterity and visual attention to detail
* Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs as neede
